Hot Pot Chen will forever be one of my comfort restaurants and one of my favorite Chinese spots in Ann Arbor. My family has been going there since I was little, back when it was still Gourmet Garden, so every time I eat there it honestly feels like getting a taste of my childhood again. Scallion pancake had very little scallions, shrimp doing roll had 2 salad size shrimp and tasted like fermented cabbage. Mongolian beef was very salty and tough. Would not recommend.
Our friend treated us twice at this authentic Chinese restaurant. This is also my first meal in Ann Arbor and it becomes my favorite restaurant in this freezing town. Highly recommend their signature spicy grilled fish and lamb. The fish tastes amazing with a lovely spicy broth and fresh vegetables. Fried tofu, bamboo shots, and Udon noodles improves the taste of the fish. Free rice is given with the entree, but rice refill costs extra. The 烤鴨 was pretty good, but the 龍門酸菜魚 was extraordinary.
