This location needs attention. The "spring" is full of trash, debris, and out-of-control algae. The trailheads are in need of maintenance, as well as the information and historical trivia signs. Several postings are out of date, mentioning things from 2023 when it is already halfway through 2025. The things that are still standing appeared be a testament to the quality of workmanship at the time rather than the appearance of continued maintenance and improvement. Scenic overlooks and vistas were more interesting.
It was a very interesting place to explore. There is a lot of history in the area.
This is a pretty nifty spot for kicking around and learn some history. You can really hike as little or far as you would like since it’s right on the OT. The old spring house and live spring are interesting as are the other footings and partial constructions. The red buds, Farley were in bloom with a bunch of wildflowers popping when I was here in mid March.
