The Union Mill and Bull Run–Occoquan Trail offers a scenic 3-mile hike with about 280 ft of elevation, winding through a peaceful natural path alongside the water. Parking is limited and there are no washrooms, but the quiet setting makes it a refreshing escape.

We selected Horizons at Hemlock for our yearly 4th grade Sunday school outing based on a recommendation from one of the parents. We’ve taken our children’s ministry to a wide range of places in the area, but this was by far THE BEST. Our group of 40 students had an absolute blast and the program that Leigh and her team put together for us kept everyone engaged and excited throughout the entirety of the 8 hour schedule that included field activities, zipline, and giant swing. Our guide Jayden at Horizons was very knowledgeable and took the time to train our group of 9 to 10 year-olds on all the safety aspects of the Giant Swing and the Zipline. The kitchen and dining facilities in the Lodge were also extremely clean, fully equipped, and easy to use. The rain or shine policy concerned us a bit but Horizons assured us there were indoor activities as well. The entire fun-filled day was full of unforgettable memories and friends. I'll share a detail of my child's day which $55 dollars got her a zipline trip and 2 1/2 hour walk through the woods, a 12 minute lunch, no restroom break, and a very short water break while the other groups enjoyed mud pits, zipline, lake walk, and other activities. The absolute laziness of the guide ruined my child's and others fun filled event.
