She repeatedly suggested expensive diagnostics without being upfront about their usefulness in extending my dogs quality of life. An $800 ultrasound that "would just be more clear than an xray", a $900 biposy that "would hopefully give us a 50% chance at telling the type of tumor." Just talked to Dr. Rizzo and technically she was very cold. Almost in tears as she couldn't give me any answers other than hey it's very rare cancer, I cut my time with her to only 9 minutes. Treatment may or may not work but it's up to you. Her tone was not of someone understanding and kind and she half chuckled when I tried to explain what my vets said like as if what they said didn't matter also stating well they didn't do a stomach X-ray so I don't know what to say until that is done. Short version is these people are pros, efficient nice and get results. Long version, our 11 year old Heeler felt like crap, his personality changed, we went to the vet a few times yheyvsaid itches arthritis and we nerdedcto adjustcand accept. We knew it was more than that. One vet took blood and said there was a precancer sign. We got an ultrasound and got the call, lymphoma. Dr. Rizzo and her team have been absolutely wonderful. My cat was recently diagnosed with mast cell cancer so we sought another opinion before chemo treatment. Unfortunately my school schedule doesn't align with the team being in Gig Harbor or Poulsbo, but Dr.Rizzo and her team have still taken the time to communicate with our regular vet so I can get the bloodwork and chemo started. I cannot thank them enough for being willing to answer my regular vets questions and help me and my cat-Alice-on this journey.
