I was referred to HOPE counseling through the Society for the blind after I was diagnosed legally blind from macular degeneration in both eyes. Truly terrible patient service. I was told I was waitlisted, then was called repeatedly at 1pm after leaving them messages and emailing them several times that because I work in a youth facility I can't have my phone. Regardless of how many times I tried to call them back or reach them, they gave my spot to someone else and never reached out again. I'll be working with a different group.

Train/educate/INFORM your counselors better so that their advice doesn't endanger clients. Cannot believe the incompetence I was subjected to here, while going through the most traumatic experience of my life. They will blithely take your money, literally burn the time in session to talk about how THEY feel about YOUR issues, and subject you to shame and pressure you to "heal" the way they want you to. The only therapists that work here are ones who couldn't get jobs elsewhere, so take your mental health journey in a differe... read more
