I went through Adult and Teen Challenge 8 years ago and they didn't have HOPE Counseling yet. The program was excellent back then, but HOPE added the counseling aspect and that makes it even better! I'm convinced that spirituality and psychology go hand in hand when done right, and I can say with all confidence that this program integrates both so well! HOPE Counseling has made this program more well rounded and has given God more avenues to restore the broken people that walk through these doors.
This program truly saved my life. The people in this building truly care about the lives of every client. They go above and beyond to guarantee that each individual receives exactly what they need. I cannot say enough about the victories I have witnessed since coming here!
I have have been through many treatment centers and the counseling at HOPE made all the difference in my recovery. I didn't always like what we did or my 1 on 1 sessions but they pushed me outside my comfort in order to grow. I truly believe the people there today are there because they care. Phase 2, which is considered their IOP groups, produced the most growth in me that I have ever had. Thank you ATCOV and HOPE counselors.
Group therapy consisted of watching movies with troubled protagonists and reliving the counselors “glory days.” There was a mixed message between HOPE and Teen Challenge which led to huge inconsistencies in treatment. The true challenge was rejecting antiquated theories and maintaining spiritual wellness in a negative and judgmental environment. After discharge I got treatment for PTSD and paranoia from institutionalization.
