Simply love this place! Family Favorite – I have been going here for over 10 years. This is the go-to chinese restaurant for my family for all occasions. Great food at great prices. Crispy friend chicken is awesome. Seafood in Bird's Nest is great. Wonderful fish. Most items are great. House special steak leaves a little to be desired, but other than that, this is the place to go in C-town.

Chinatown Locals and Insider's Favorite – Hop Lee is the Chinese equivalent of a neighborhood French bistro. A comfortable, family friendly place that has been serving its loyal clientele with consistent, high quality food for decades. Classic Cantonese dishes prepared with integrity where freshness, simplicity and straightforward presentation is the order of the day. At Hop Lee its all about the food. Their Wor Wonton soup is superb. A tureen filled with roast pork, roast duck, chicken and plump wontons immersed in a Canton... read more

simply the worst!!! – went to hop lee yesterday with two other families and the guy who tried to seat us tried to put 12 people at a table for 8...we decided to split up and sit at 2 tables - not near each other - and deal with it...we get our menus and some tea - which had a lot of things besides tea leaves floating in it - and decide to have wonton soup, cold sesame noodles, roast pork w/broccoli & peking duck....i gave the server the order and he tells me that they're out of cold sesame noodles....hold the phone! it's spa... read more

We've seen the owner (a short wrinkly chinese grandpa) sit with the cooks plucking away at the chinese broccoli laughing and talking. He is simply the best, warm, friendly and he remembers faces. The food is delicious just like the way mom makes it and the portions are huge so we always leave with a doggy bag. The restaurant also pays tribute to all the police, federal, fire, security department in NYC as their badges are displayed behind the cash resgister. Please go with an empty stomach and get say hello to the owner. You... read more

Delicious Home-Cooked Cantonese Food – As an ethnic Chinese person born and bred in the Far East, I can testify that this place serves excellent home-cooked (rather than banquet-style) Cantonese food. My personal favorites are the Sauted Flounder Filets with Squash, Lobster Cantonese-style (with egg and pork), Pea Shoots sauteed in Garlic and Onions, Boiled Chicken with Scallion Sauce and Fried Chicken with Garlic Chips and Soy Sauce (I could just reel off the menu--I haven't had a bad dish yet in over a decade and a half of... read more

Everyone is Family at Hop Lee – I grew up eating at this restaurant. It's home away from home. The owner, waiters, and chef has remained the same and the food is away served hot, fast, and delicious. The owner is fluent in English, Chinese, and Spanish, so nothing will get by him. Friendly and no BS place. Food is authentic Chinese, no msg and price is inexpensive. You can't get a better deal in Chinatown!

Excellent Hong Kong/Southern China style dishes – The food is excellent and authentic Hong Kong/Southern China style dishes. Service is very quick and friendly, although the decoration is so-so. Price is low. The lunch special is $4.95, with one dish, one bowl of rice, and one bowl of soup. The soup does not have much MSG. I highly recommend this restaurant.
