So disappointed in how my mother was treated by some of the nursing staff at the rehab. The food was horrible, the care by some of the nursing staff was awful and we had to constantly ask for help. At time's we could not find anyone on the rehab floor to assist my mother. She was left alone in the bathroom for long periods of time on the toilet yelling for help. We regret leaving our mother at this rehabilitation/skilled nursing care home.
Unfortunately, the company that bought it several years ago is doing a disservice to the people who live there. They no longer have physical therapy or rehabilitation space for those coming home from the hospital. They charge the tenants if a nurse has to go to their unit. The food looks frozen and pre-made. It hurts my heart to see my loved ones who thought they had chosen their last home to Be I'm there.
Even though I had a poor experience with Homewood I still feel Homewood is one of the best nursing homes in Hagerstown. Saying that I've taken care of Alot of people as a caregiver that have been in Homewoods care. I was visiting my friend whom I've cared for for 4 years she's only been there a couple days. Worker came in to check on friend and she had been up a couple hours I politely asked when meds are given and let her know one med has to be taken 12 hours hours apart. I recently helped a senior family friend move into an apartment at Homewood. We looked at several independent living facilities in the Washington County area before she decided to make Homewood her forever home. After living on her own for 54 years, it was quite the undertaking for her to downsize from a house to a 2 bedroom apartment. Needless to say, the move was just what she needed!
