We were traveling from Idaho to California when our checks engine light came on. We stopped to see if they could read the code and get something fixed if we needed to and they were great to deal with! They read the code, did some research, then told us we could kept driving to the next town to see if it came back on. He checked our oil (as a potential cause of the check engine light), then topped it off. After doing all that they refused to let us pay for anything, including the oil. I am going to add to the MANY positive reviews for Ty and Hometown Auto. We were 30 miles outside of Burns and had engine light come on, 8pm, in the dark and out of cell range. We thought we were in big trouble. Somehow got the car back to town and a hotel for the night. In the morning, got the car to Ty. He immediately offered to help. He connected the scanner, found the issue and realized it was a pretty simple fix. He couldn't get the part but helped us figure out a way to continue on. It worked! A heat shield came loose on our car on our way between Elko, NV and Bend, OR. We stopped at Hometown hoping we would not have to spend the night waiting for a repair. To our surprise and delight, a pickup truck was moved off a rack, our car taking it's place, and a repair completed within 5 minutes! And no charge! We can't say enough about the service, skill, and caring nature of Hometown. We highly recommend Hometown and if we ever need help with our car when in the area we will not hesitate to take our car to Hometown!
