My 1906-ish house in Durham was originally built with an unfinished attic and at some point in the intervening hundred years the attic was finished out but without very much insulation. Mark did a great energy audit of the house, suggested a number of ways I could make low-cost improvements, and then added insulation under the attic floor and greatly improved the insulation of all upstairs walls. Mark and his team did an energy audit on my leaky 1979 home and plugged the leaks by more than 38%. More than that would not have been cost effective. Have seen my energy bills go down, but as Marked advised, the biggest savings will come when it is time to replace the HVAC, refrigerator, and the other appliances. Home Performance NC performed an energy audit on my 1972 house in Chapel Hill. Mark explained the results along with a full report and went over my options with me. When the weatherization was complete, the ‘after’ test showed a HUGE improvement. No more leaks, house is fully insulated, and crawl space has a beautiful moisture barrier.
