I went to this office to correct my mother’s middle name on my birth certificate—a mistake they made—and was told I had to pay $20 to fix their own error. That alone is frustrating, but it gets worse. Even after the correction, they refused to update the name in the system, which means my brothers (in other states) can’t benefit from the fix unless they each go through the same expensive, time-wasting process—just to correct the same mistake.
