We turned our basement back into a usable space after using it for storage. The carpet had been neglected for a long time and had a faint musty feel. Getting it treated was the first step to making it livable again.
I tried one of those rental carpet machines once and it was so much work to drag around. This time I just had someone else handle it and not spending my whole Saturday on it was worth it alone.
Our sofa had been sitting in the same position forever, so the carpet underneath was almost like a time capsule. The contrast between that area and the rest of the floor was pretty funny. It convinced me the room was overdue for a proper refresh.
We were having people over and I noticed several little food marks scattered around the living room. Nothing looked terrible individually, but together they made the carpet look messy. Taking care of the whole room made sense.
The whole process was easy from booking to finishing. They showed up, got straight to work, and left everything looking clean.
