I am a big fan of the african violet soil by Optimara from Selective Gardner and I have purchased their soil repeatedly. My violets really do better in it than in other brand soils such as often recommended 50% Black Gold/50%Perlite. I tried several. They also sell easy to use safe violet fertilizer which I highly recommend. I live in Alabama but was in the area for business and made a detour to visit Optimara Greenhouses to stock up on violet soil and see what else they have, in person. Dropped in unannounced. I had looked for african violets in the area for several weeks and was having no success. I am so glad that I found this business right here in town. The lovely shop is small but packed with great choices. I found just what wanted, with better quality than I hoped for.

Lovely Greenhouse complex with a cute shop at the front. It's self service but the prices were great and the flowers and plants are all beautiful. Pots and yard ornaments are available as well.
