The ribs and the beans were amazing. I do wish they had a mixed grill so I could try all of the meats in one entree. The beans were smokey and not too sweet, with big chunks of sausage. We sat outside for a Sunday lunch and it was quiet and pleasant.
If you are looking for a neighnorhood bar; then yes it may be acceptable! This is not what one would expect from a traditional smokehouse/BBQ restaurant. However, they do serve some BBQ which was OK. We were originally going to Pappy’s but the line was too long. Google suggested Hogtown was the next best place. ????? We were disappointed since we had always heard that St Louis had great BBQ.
If you’re looking for a spot that is all about the BBQ, this is it. The ribs were fantastic. A little bit of sweet in the rub goes well with the tangy sauce. Don’t miss the Mac n Cheese. It is worth the visit on its own. Nothing but thumbs up for the friendly staff. Oh and the turkey club was really good. Add this to your STL BBQ spots to try!!
