Hockley Medical Practice allowed me to register when I had left my husband in difficult circumstances and didn't have anywhere to live permanently. So many other doctors in Brum refused me, even my previous surgery where I had been registered for years. I am beyond grateful as I was recovering from a psychotic episode having been sectioned and I needed care and medication. They have been outstanding. I was previously a patient with the practice for over 10 years. It's sad to see the decline of the practice from what it once was. Since Dr O'Brien retired, the practice has steadily gone downhill. Over the past few years, I have never seen the same doctor twice. Some doctors are really nice others are rude and dismissive. Members of the admin/reception team can be quite rude and unhelpful. The only good part about the practice are the nurses, who are lovely.

It’s been 2 months I have tried switching from my previous GP to Hockley medical and till now after several calls to Hockley medical, no word from them, no switching me to them (Hockley Medical) and the staff I spoke to on phone this evening, sounded like she was forced to respond to me. She practically told me if she tries registering me and it doesn’t go, I should find a new GP

To start with they refuse to give an appointment to a 2 year old who was referred by the hospital, then the receptionist is rude, unhelpful and try everything to get you to walk back out the door instead of helping you, huge surgery just eating up goverment funding, maybe 1/3 of the entire building is being used. Honestly one if the worst GP surgeries in the area, it looks abandoned, uncared for and is outdated.

I was very disappointed with my recent appointment. The experience was far from patient-centred care. I was not given the opportunity to fully explain why I was there; I was interrupted several times and unable to finish my sentences. I requested a blood test but was never informed what would be checked. This is a basic right, and patients should always be given clear information about their treatment.
