Summary: I put in a claim for furnace service. HMS sent a guy to my house who demanded $600 in repairs. The actual problem (wrong filter) cost $2 to fix. HMS then REFUSED to return my calls about it. I've been a deluxe-class customer of HMS Home Warranty / Cross-Country Home Services / Long & Foster Home Warranty for six years. In November, I put in a claim on a poorly performing furnace. This company is less than worthless. . . . too bad there isn't a negative 5 rating. They hire hacks that work out of the back of a pickup truck with no license, no certifications and no insurance. When you get caught in their system, they will hound you relentlessly for weeks with texts and emails. A sham company. RUN!!

Lots of 1 star reviews, so I'd like to add my $.02. They are a home warranty company. They are all terrible. Like any insurance company, they aren't just going to freely pay out your claims. I have had situations where they claimed a preexisting condition, but was able to teach them how furnaces work to reverse their decision. I had a situation where my furnace went out, and they offered to send somebody in 3 days. Fight enough, and somebody comes 12 hours later. I just called to cancel my home warranty. Even though there were several months left on the policy, I was denied a refund because they paid out claims on the policy. (Please be aware that I was charged a deductible twice, they never fixed my refrigerator, and the entire process took over 6 weeks. I ended up buying a new refrigerator out of pocket.) In the future, I'll just take any money that would be spent on a home warranty and put it in the bank. Please stay away from this company, it's obviously a scam. If I could go bac... read more

The Air conditioner unit and heat pump at my house had to be replaced. This was authorized and approved by HMS in writing. The reimbursement e-mail did not take into consideration that I already paid the deductible to their contractor Top HVAC of $125.00 nor did it take into consideration I needed a new thermostat for $150.00. The amount they approved for the job minus these 2 above charges was $3040.84, As promised in their email dated 8/10/2019. I never received these funds.
