A wonderful cafe I stumbled upon while out and about. What began as curiosity has become an almost weekly treat. The food is great, second only to the bright personality of the business owner. Sarah maintains an incredible care for the people, the food, and remarkably the establishment itself. The cafe is situated inside what I can only describe as a repurposed industrial warehouse, reclaimed and revitalized by genuine passion. I can appreciate that. The Hive is an excellent vegan establishment run by a very friendly and considerate owner. As someone that's never really considered even trying vegan food, I decided to give it a try and was VERY pleasantly surprised at how great it tasted. I was shown excellent service. If anything I ordered was not available, an alternative was offered. The atmosphere is a perfect feeling of a local hole-in-the-wall place to spend time and have good food. If youre ever looking for a new place to try, or even a place to give vegan food a c... read more
Accepted my large order but then prioritized every single small order after until she closed the store 2 hours later, without starting a single one of my coffees. Simply bewildered and disappointed, this is not how to run a business. If you don’t have the capability or intention to take my generous order, don’t accept it and i’ll take my business elsewhere.
I was with a larger group, and we placed an order all together. The person working was alone, so we knew it would take a while, and we were fine with that. However, when smaller groups or individuals came in and placed an order, she would start immediately on theirs and not work on ours. Two hours later, we did not have a single coffee made. I understand that large group orders can be inconvenient. But it seems like the barista had no intention to make our drinks at all.
Great for a quick stop or to take your time and savor the moment. They serve coffee, burgers, and oatmeal ice cream—all homemade.
