The Slocum House, which is located in the southwest corner of Esther Short Park has quite an interesting history. In 1966 this house was actually moved from its original site by one block to save it from being destroyed. Good thing, because it is the only original building left in what was once a premier residential neighborhood. In 1973 it was listed on the National Register of Historic Places, so now it can not be torn down, thank goodness. The Slocum House was built in 1867 or 1877, not sure. It was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1973. Check it out! Cool looking house.
