I was very skeptical about coming to th ER, but my leg was killing me and I couldn’t wait much longer. When I say EVERYONE I encountered treated my daughter and I with such compassion, and happy hearts I mean that! My intake nurse Ashley was happy and made us feel very comfortable which really set the tone for the rest of my visit. *Read whole story - terrifying experience - 3rd world level of medical care… or worse* Ill start by saying this, MAYBE you can get the right doctor and right nurses at Hilo, but you can also get the very worst. When i went, i got the worst. And if i hadnt been vigilant it could have cost my life / or leg. I had a serious injury — rusty spike went deep into my leg. I went in Hilo Medical Center ER due to multiple vomiting during the night before. Dr. Dunphy diagnosed the problem, and Dr. Pierce and the FMS team provided the excellent treatment while I was hospitalized (I was out of the hospital in 32 hours). I am grateful to them and the many RNs and aids: Shan and Maraie, Dana and Ava, Kelly and Jesus, and Giana, and many other kind and professional staffs at ER, Lab, CT Scan, X-Ray whose names I can't recall.
