Serving Highlands County for Over 50 Years Dr. Frank Handley began this veterinary practice in the early 1950s. Dr. Howard S. Jones, Jr. purchased the practice from him in the early '80s. Dr. John H. Young joined the practice in 1989 and continued as an associate until Dr. Jones' retirement in 2000 when Dr. Young purchased the practice. We've dealt with both Dr. Jones and Dr. Young and have been very happy with both. We've always been able to get an emergency appointment, if necessary. Goes Above and Beyond Highlands Animal Hospital has come to our rescue several times when our regular vet couldn't see us. The staff who answers the phone is always willing to listen to what I have to say and help in whatever way they could. We were in a predicament one time with an unaltered male dog and a female dog who was in heat. Although, Highlands Animal Hospital could not neuter our male for a couple of days, they kept him at their facility without charge to keep our female from getting pregnant.
