We went under contract with Highland Homes for a home in Heartland, TX and paid a $5,000 earnest money deposit. From the start, we were treated unfairly and pressured at every step. The original loan was denied and at that point, we should have been entitled to a full refund of our earnest money. But instead of returning our deposit, Highland referred us to a different lender to keep the deal alive. Stopped in last weekend with a relative who’s looking at buying a new home in the next six months or so. The salesman who greeted us was the rudest person ever to be “greeting” potential customers. He was so busy chatting it up with his other salesmen friends that he barely said hello, we said hi we’d like to look around and he joked that it would cost us $5 to look. Poor Workmanship!!! Not quality homes! We purchased our home as a new construction June 2017. It is Dec 2024 and we have had several non wear and tear defects where we had to purchase a new toilets in February 2023 because the toilet would always back up due to plumbing line not being properly installed, A/C unit went out June 2023, along with 4 other homeowners on my street, replaced the garbage disposal Sept 2023, the dishwasher which we have never used because it has never washed a full clean cycle.
