We went under contract with Highland Homes for a home in Heartland, TX and paid a $5,000 earnest money deposit. From the start, we were treated unfairly and pressured at every step. The original loan was denied and at that point, we should have been entitled to a full refund of our earnest money. But instead of returning our deposit, Highland referred us to a different lender to keep the deal alive.
