Update: The contract we signed heavily favored the builder, leaving us with no recourse in case of issues. Despite making all payments on time and fully investing in the property, the builder sold it to another buyer, falsely claiming we breached the contract. They profited from this sale within the closing timeframe, while we were denied a full refund, resulting in unjust enrichment and a significant windfall at our expense. Poorly built home,, we thought we were buying our forever home for our retirement years. Electrical, plumbing and framing issues. 5 windows replaced. Water drainage issues. It’s been a continual nightmare - We turn the ceiling fan on and the lights flicker, they cannot figure out why. We have stinky odor in the primary bathroom shower drain and sink, they have been out once to ‘fix’ it. Framing issues in attic looks like they played jenga. Our experience with Highland Homes has been disappointing. After our pre-close home walk on 12/14/2023, several issues emerged: Accessibility Challenges: 24” bathroom doors hinder plans for my elderly father's accessibility. Soil Drainage Report: Ongoing soil moisture issues demand a report for foundation stability. Do not trust Highland Homes! We contracted with this builder in May 2023 to construct a new Denton plan home in Edgewater subdivision (Webster, TX). 1) We expressed concerns about framing issues once constrctruction began and were told repeatedly that inspections would identify such issues and that they would be corrected. Issues were still present when our pre-drywall inspection took place. We requested documentation that issues were corrected, but never received anything from the builder.
