I found this pioneer village to be enjoyable, as it brings back some great memories by looking into the past. Allow 2-3 hours to visit the place. The place is run by volunteers who are all so welcoming, informative, and ready to answer any questions you have.

Amazing little gem here. Hubby and I stopped here to have a look, I am so glad we did. Interesting place with a lot of history here. The place itself is 90% wheelchair and pram friendly. There are also non-powered sites here for the cost of a ticket, you can stay for a night and take your time to walk around and see everything here. The Pioneer Village is on 20 acres with 70 buildings to go through and look at. The staff was very friendly and helpful with all the info about the village. There is something here for everyone.... read more

Highfields Pioneer Village, AKA "The home of the Big Cow". An excellent example of a "Pioneer" village. There were a great many exhibits, all of which were extremely well presented, informative, and interesting. The village is staffed by volunteers who are all willing to engage with visitors to share their knowledge of the village. We spent over an hour wandering around experiencing all the exhibits and thoroughly enjoyed the experience

31/3/24 Easter Sunday. We just spent 3hours out here today. We live in the area but had no idea it was so huge. Some sites you’ll see are - fire station museum( run by firies), transport museum, button collection, silversmith, tractors, radios, grab tea & damper, sausage sizzle, mini train rides ( only certain days of the month) the “big cow”and much more. A great site well worth the visit. Entry is $20, kids $?, extra for bus, train rides & food.

An incredible place to spend a few hours with young ones with train rides, animal areas, vintage cars, sheep shearing demonstrations and playgrounds. There's a vast amount of different buildings to go in and take a look, in addition to trying Billy Tea & Damper at the main cafe area. Lots of specialty items around the village, and dogs were allowed in too (on leash) which was great. Staff were all very friendly and helpful and there was ample parking, even on a busy weekend. There's also the Big Cow statue within the village... read more
