Jam and open mics – There are always going to be variations in experiences by walk on jammers at these things. Different host bands and no clear direction or mandate from Mike as to how to run the session. But the alternative is no Jam at all. Here is what you probably don't know.......The host band gets $100.00 plus 20% of the sales during thier playing time. Most times this doesn't come to more than $150, $200, at the most. Do the math...4 or 5 pc band playing for 4 hrs for 30 bucks a pc. If Mike clamps down on the host ba... read more
Hide Out Not Player Friendly – Hate to say it, but the Hide Out jam on Sundays has really gone in the toilet. It used to be one of the best, but has taken a nose dive. The sign up list is a joke at best. The host bands get their buddies up first, and the solos are way too long. Take a 3 minute song and turn it into a 30 minute train wreck(with every song)BORING! The service has always been slow, and with the amount of folks crammed in the place, you're lucky to get a drink at all some nights. Sadly, the food quality has slip... read more
What??? – Sorry you had a bad experience at the Hideout, I've known Coyote Bill and his Wild Ones for quite awhile and have found they run a very fair jam, first come first served...Perhaps the sign up sheet was full before you came along...as for 30 minute solos, you are mistaken....Coyote Bill never plays long solos. Now for the bikers, I love them, as for kid friendly?? It is a bar, what did you expect???
Hideout Bar & Grill: Home of the blues North of the river! – Let out that great big sigh of relief; the Hide Out Bar & Grill, a vibrant purveyor of blues experiences in the Northland, has smoothly transitioned to its new owner, Mike Vogt, who has already been making good on his intentions to keep live blues shows at the club going strong. In fact, he is already handing out business cards that label The Hide Out Bar & Grill “The Home of Blues North of the River.” A patient man, Vogt was quietly chagrined by the persistent sno... read more
best spot around – I'm not quite sure what u experienced at the hideout but I have been there for several jams and can say its one of the best. sundays are hosted by all different bands nor just coyote bill. its a home feeling right when u step inside and I didn't see one biker. they served great food and all the people were very friendly. they all seemed to enjoy the music and dance. I absolult recommend this to anyone!! as far as kids it is still a bar so I'm not quit sure what your expecting for children.. hints the over ... read more
Musicians Beware! – This haven for Knuckleheads' after-hours refugees does its best to emulate the popular West Bottoms' blues jam format. In doing so, they manage to dethrone Tonahill's Three Of A Kind as the worst open mic spot in the Tri-City area. Coyote Bill and his Hard Liquor colleagues have a sign-up list that they scan for friends and family, allowing newcomers to rot while they strut their stuff throughout relentless thirty-minute guitar solos. We sat for three hours before they let our keyboardist join in, and she... read more
