I came in during the early afternoon, and as soon as I walked in, the people at the front asked about my order... They were very kind! After ordering, the server brought my food out, and checked on me several times. They also have paper menus on each table, so we can easily add to our order (which I did :-). the food is fresh and good love the bbq and the corn bread and mac and cheese is good as well its one of those cafeteria style places you get your tray go down the line get what you want and then pay at the register then seat your self
Very Good We found this online in a "Best of Springfield 2006" article from Illinois Times, and it was great! Just as in Texas, you go through a cafeteria-style line, letting the server know which of the many types of BBQ you'd like and sides (such as baked beans, cole slaw, mac & cheese, applesauce). I got the sliced beef brisket, with a combination of mild and spicy sauces, and it was as good as any I've ever had. My wife got the BBQ pork, which she described as great. Along with a longneck beer (only $1!), can't be beat.

I usually get the BBQ pulled beef by the lb. at Hickory Rivers. It is pretty good with the mixed bbq sauce. The drive through is usually pretty fast, and the food is always hot.
