I’ve rented with Hertz many times and actually preferred them over other rental companies, which makes this whole experience even more disappointing. Myself and my wife had a car reserved for tomorrow for our vacation. We had reserved a car at Lee Burbank highway in Revere. Today they phoned me to tell me that they no longer had our reserved car available or any other replacement vehicles at this site. They then told me that I had to ring the main reservation line to change our booking??? Like what, you don’t even try to resolve your own mistakes… Baffling to say the least. Great company if you want 200+ in charges you never agreed to and 6 hours on the phone between corporate, customer service, and local dealers 100+ miles from each other about why you're being charged. I can't imagine a worse company to rent from.
The local (Salem, MA) Hertz canceled my reservation an hour before pickup, leaving my family stranded. I've spent the past 7 hours being bounced around to foreign call centers, speaking to specialists, supervisors, finance. Best they can do is rebook me at double the price. Local Hertz locations won't answer the phone, and claim to be out of stock when pressed to honor my original price, yet I can still see immediate availability on their website. Don't rent from Hertz, this could happen to you next.
