I come to MI often and usually rent a car from a diffrent car rental agency. They are usally great. They are friendly, organized and professional. Since I got a discount through my credit card. I thought I would try Hertz again. Did not like them 10 yrs ago. There was no improvement. The worst customer service ever! The car was not great either. Hertz is hands down one of the worst companies I've ever dealt with! I rented a vehicle and was involved in an accident where I was considered at fault. my insurance paid Hertz approximately $13,700 in repairs, yet Hertz still demanded an additional $4,000 in diminished value and fees. Several months later, that amount somehow skyrocketed to $9,300! Then Hertz suddenly offered to settle for $4,500. Arrived for scheduled pickup, attendant was discussing type of car & just as he was handing keys, manager comes out, says I can't get rate, starts talking about some policy (nothing is printed or posted) & refuses to honor my contract. States I can book at walk-in rates. shows some info on her phone, when ask for her name and title, she gives first name only, stating she has no business card & they don't give out they last name ( so unprofessional). I will file formal complaint with company directly.
