My review is formally escalate a serious safety concern regarding our rental experience with this Hertz rental. We reserved a Toyota RAV4 or similar SUV. At pickup, due to strict time constraints and imminent travel into West Virginia during January blizzard conditions, we specifically asked the Hertz staff whether the 2025 Kia Soul we were offered was all-wheel drive (AWD) and suitable for extremely cold, snowy, and icy conditions. A very disappointing experience for a rental over the Christmas holiday. I reserved a Hybrid Small SUV, yet was provided a Chevy Trax, which is not a hybrid, and therefore did not meet the reservation category I specifically selected and paid for. More concerning was the customer service interaction. I was charged a $90 fee for my husband as an additional operator after being told that there would be no charge because he is my spouse. I got no satisfaction when I appealed the charge. I will never rent again from Hertz if another competitor company is available. It’s a pity that Hertz is willing to lose a customer for a $90 misunderstanding.
