Possibly worst hertz in my 30 yrs traveling. Never enough cars, poor desk service, and no care for their customers

The car we picked up on 9/20 was not vacuumed and reeked of cigarette smoke. We recorded this on the paperwork and let the staff at the desk know, though we were too exhausted to go through the hassle of getting a different car at that point and decided to deal with it. Returned it today, 9/25, and just received a bill for $500 for the smoking smell in the car. Gwen in the Grand Rapids is outstanding at customer service. She was not involved in my latest rental. The Car was embarrassingly dirty. I didn’t realize the amount of dirt until I saw it outside the garage.
