I will start by saying that Anna at the Folsom CA location deserves all 5 stars! I had made an online reservation through the Hertz app and wasn’t able to modify my time to pick up, so I called Hertz Gold customer service line and spoke to someone (possibly name Bob or Bal?) after holding for 12 minutes, who told me that I couldn’t modify the time and if I cancelled it then do a day of reservation for the earlier time, I was informed that I would be charged a 100.00 cancellation fee on top of a higher rate?! Wish there was a zero star option because that’s what this place deserves. Made a reservation a week in advance where they were supposed to pick me up at my car repair shop. They asked me to call when ready to pick up. Called multiple times and never answered. Because I had no rental car had to rearrange my whole morning and drop my car off at a later time. The staffs there are extremely unprofessional, failed to scan the car on time, and charge me more. Be aware there.
Most horrible experience that you can imagine, this was the 2nd time in a row. I booked a one way rental, sedan, and when I came to pick it up I was told that they do not have the car that I booked but can give me a van, I was like ok that is fine since I am stuck now since it was closing time, then was told that I will be charged for an upgrade of almost 50% of what I had already paid since I am getting a Van instead of Car, when I questioned it I was rudely told pay extra or cancel the reservation. They gave me a car with the wrong odometer reading, low gas, and violated their terms of service to upcharge me for an upgrade since the requested vehicle was not available. The issue was fixed by calling the national customer service number. Insanely scummy, be cautious and don't rent from them unless you're experienced with the process so you know how to protect yourself.
