My flight was scheduled to land at 11:59, but the latest pick up time was 11:30. So I got a hotel close by just in case. After my flight was delayed and I didn't land until almost 1am I thought for sure I would be Ubering. To my suprise the Hertz agent was still there waiting for me, and in good spirits too. Great experience.
Good luck talking to customer service. Everything is done "online." Good luck navigating that. FYI, they will charge you fuel even if you return it with more fuel than you picked it up with. Picked it up with less than 3/4 of a tank and returned it full with "89%" full tank, they said. The indicator was well within showing a full tank.
