ZERO isn't an option. I had a Priceline reservation for a midsize HYBRID. I paid the additional $19/day for rental insurance coverage through Priceline. They didn't have any hybrids. Downgraded to a Kia K4 (compact gas) and not given any refund for the higher charge of the hybrid I had reserved. I did the online checkin the night before knowing we would not be able to pick it up until after 5 on Saturday, so we had the confirmation number, my husband's driver's license photo, etc. already in the system. The first car was filthy. They gave us another but gave us the wrong car keys. The second car was also very dirty. They upgraded us to a car that they promised was clean. It wasn't (see photo). Moreover, when I started the car the oil light came on and it said to service the car immediately.

I’ve rented a lot of cars from Hertz (from small airports in the middle of Montana to large airports like Phoenix) and always had a satisfactory experience. Vehicles are new, clean (interior and exterior) and ready when I arrive. I cannot stress more NOT to rent from Hertz at the MSN airport in Madison, WI. - waited for over an hour for car - well passed an hour from scheduled time - finally got my car and smelled like smoke badly - only other SUV was smaller but I took it because I was late (didn’t work for all our luggage ... read more

Terrible experience. Long line and then once at the front told I was on a waitlist for a car to be ready despite having reservation. Waited at the airport for over an hour despite my flight being right on time.
