**Very disappointing Hertz experience.** My friend booked a Hertz rental through Priceline on Friday evening using his debit card. When he arrived Saturday morning, he was told he could not rent the car with a debit card because the reservation had not been made at least 24 hours in advance. There was even a sign at the counter stating, “Make a reservation at least one day in advance.” Apparently, less than 24 hours does not qualify as “one day in advance.” I drove to the location with my credit card to help, but was then to... read more
The only reason I keep going back to Hertz is because of Shaq (5 stars for you Shaq). He is really a super great guy. Otherwise Hertz sucks. I have been there 3 times and they are always out of cars (sedans) eventhough I had to pre-book. Then they will ask you to pay extra for an upgrade.
I had to wait 90 minutes to get a car ,and when I received the vehicle is was not cleaned!!im a loyal customer of hertz and this was un acceptable
Avoid this location! The agents at the desk have absolutely no sense of customer service. I arrived on a Friday afternoon, and the only person at the desk (at the time) was helping a customer. He told me they were out of cars, and when I asked if they might have availability later, he told me to wait and that he would let me know (after he finished attending the customer). Not the Hertz I once knew. After renting cars for almost 50 years I can remember when Hertz was the gold standard - in fact I still have a Hertz #1 Club Gold card. The Newark, Delaware location falls well short. After making an online reservation well in advance I showed up several minutes after opening. After 5-10 minutes the woman behind the counter locked up and acknowledged my presence, saying she was having computer issues. After ~20 minutes another guy showed up.
