Update – I spoke with Joseph by phone, and he was both helpful and reassuring again. Today I was notified that the fuel charge will be credited back within 10 days, so I’m adjusting my rating upward. The pickup and drop-off process was so unusually easy that it raised my suspicions. When my son and I arrived to pick up the car—before the office closed—no one was there. The pickup and drop-off process was so unusually easy that it raised my suspicions. When my son and I arrived to pick up the car—before the office closed—no one was there. A handwritten note on the door directed us to the airport desk (it's a small airport), where the staff member handed me the keys without even checking my ID. To my surprise, the gas tank wasn’t full—something I’ve never experienced with Hertz. I made a reservation and when I went to pick up the vehicle I chose on the reservation it was not avaliable. So, I was put into a different SUV. No big deal, I did not complain. When I drove the SUV the AC never kept up with the heat from the hot Texas summer, I was sweaty everywhere I went in this vehicle, but still did not complain. However, when I received my bill after bringing the vehicle back 3 days early and was charged a late drop off fee and charges for 3 extra days I did complain. Location manager was great. Had no issues with pickup or return. Overall very good customer service.
