Had back surgery in April 2006 for an “essentially” broken back. Four orthopedic Drs told me I would spend the rest of my life in a wheelchair and there was nothing that could be done. The Dr I worked for recommended Dr Heightkamp. He explained my condition and the surgery well. The day after surgery, I was up and walking with a walker. He did my laminotomy a couple days ago.Dr. Heitkamp and his staff were amazing. I asked for the best and I truly got it. They treated my with respect and professionalism. 10/10.
It was many years ago, but as soon as I woke up from surgery I felt better than I had in almost 3 months. And I have had no problems with my back since.
Had lower back surgery August 18th and he said two weeks for recovery and he was right on with the projection - two weeks and I was golfing in three weeks.
I recently saw Dr. Heitkamp after having a horrible experience with another doctor. Sure wish I had seen Dr. Heitkamp first. His explanations of my issues were so thorough & yet simple that even a young child could understand. He reviewed my MRI with me and slowly described what he was looking at. He brought out a spine model & pointed out my problem areas. Highly recommend him to anyone with back issues. His nurse, Diane, is kind and patient as well is his front desk manager. Wonderful overall.

i first saw Dr. Heitkamp 14 years ago. He did back surgery on my L4, L5. I recovered with no pain what so ever. I tripped and fell recently and injured my back. Dr. Heitkamp again is my surgeon and he is the best of the best He also did the same surgery on my son and my son has had absolutely no recurring problems.
