I've had my engagement ring for 30 years. Fifteen of those years I did not wear it because it was broken due to a poor design. Soldering was only a temporary fix. Since I am sentimental, I did not want to replace the setting, but it didn't make sense to have a diamond sitting in a jewelry box.
