I thought I’d support the city since we live here and hi to a city hardwood store. Except they don’t sell to the public. Only 5’ lengths. They told me to go to the suburbs - Owl Hardwood. Disappointing. You’d think Chicago would have exotic hardwoods available.
Their website does not indicate that they are wholesale only. I wanted to browse their selection for a project I'm doing, but they indicated over the phone that this is not possible.
Time passes and things change. Have recently been ordering from Heidler after a long pause. The service and communication are great. They understand the importance and quality that custom shops are looking for. They are the place to go in Chicago if you are looking for some great lumber.
Absolute pleasure to deal with! Fast, knowledgeable, professional, and competitive pricing.
I can't tell you how nice it is to deal with honest, fair, knowledgable people. The entire Heidler family always goes above and beyond!
