UVA Hospital Dr. Hedrick is the reason why I am still here. I am truly thankful to Dr. Hedrick for her caring and loving support during my Cancer Surgery and post treatment. First surgery: She fixed a botched iliostomy (performed at a different hospital by a different doctor) and removed a blockage in my colon. I will never understand how she fixed that iliostomy. It hurt terribly the 3 months I had it because the bags wouldn't stay on and afterwards it much better to deal with. My second surgery was 3 months later when she removed the iliostomy. Dr Hedrick is such a compassionate and caring person who puts her entire being into every patient. Her knowledge of cancer and digestive health is tremendous!! She literally saved my life and helped me through my cancerous rectal tumor surgery last June.
