Came on a Sunday, and despite claiming to be open, was CLOSED. seems other reviewers were right. Looks like a dump anyway
This store has listed hours of 9-6 yet when I stop in between these times, 9 times out of 10 , the store is locked & no one is to be found. If you call, no one ever answers. Its very frustrating because you never know when the store will actually be open.
I went here a while back to buy pvc pipe fittings and felt as if the employee was forcing me to buy more than I wanted. Today (Sunday, May 13th) I got here around 11:30am because they say they're open on Sundays from 11am to 5pm and I was greeted by a closed sign saying "be back at 9am".
I don't know why but they don't seem to answer their phone. Just tried again (Tues., 10/25/16 @ 1:45 pm) for the 4th time since last week. :-(
I love this store. It has a small-town, personal feel in the middle of downtown White Plains, and it stocks a surprising amount of good stuff at good prices. Most important, the staff here are friendly, knowledgeable, and helpful. It's hard to find service like this these days, so I wish a long life for H. Hecht and Sons.
