Worst untrained refs out of all the sports organizations my kids play in!! Heartland clearly don’t spend time training their refs, it shows by poor calls and not correcting parents who verbally target players on the other team. Looks more like a money grab, than a nonprofit youth organization.

Two refs and a voluntary parent is the norm for games and tournaments.. I have proof! This season we’ve had more incomplete Officiating crews than we’ve had 3 officials. They won’t even run a 2 man crew if they can’t facilitate three officials, always ask parents to run a line. Complete lie.... and more of a lie.... I've seen parents ref the full game. They are pathetic in justifying their failures as a company or taking responsibility. The option is... there's not enough... read more

Asking a parent to ref who has not had adequate training for the job is unacceptable. I would rather be short 1 ref than to have an untrained parent step into an uncomfortable situation that can create potential bias and conflict between parents and teams. The coaches, parents, and players work hard to do their part to make to make this fun for all. The association needs to step it up and solve this problem. Staffing/capacity and business continuity planning are fundamental things that every organization has to manage. Overs... read more
