At Heartland These men and wemon just don't take care of your family members . Heartland Drs.and their Team make miracles happen . First off I hope everybody reading this realizes that there are actual staff members that work there @Heartland who will bring in illegal stuff for the patients as long as the patient has the $ they can get what they want, anything from hard drugs to a single cigarette. Being as though I had a family member in there fighting addiction because this person is killing themselves with drugs, I thought he or she would be safe in there but I thought wrong because this place is a joke. Our experience with Heartland Behavioral Health has been very difficult. While some staff are kind, my daughter’s overall care has not supported healing. Communication is frustrating. I’ve often been told to call back due to staffing or shift changes, and the nurses’ station phone can ring for long periods with no answer. The treatment environment has not been helpful. 3x and now they deny my son because they claim he wasn't benefiting from their program. Problem is they don't enforce or even try to help. My son is special needs and they made him feel as if it was a vacation spot and communication was beyond terrible. Of course they deny my son when he just tried to commit suicide and was pink slipped by the hospital!!! If I could give 0 stars I definitely would.

I only put two stars for them. The atmosphere is so confined but the type of hospital they are it is understood that the patients do need to be protected from hurting others as well as themselves. However, I do think that there should be more kindness given to them on the whole. I have met some very good caregivers there but I have also met some very rude ones too.
