DO NOT CHOOSE HEALTHTEAM ADVANTAGE! My mother had a stroke on 2/8/2026. She has spent a week at Moses Cone waiting for insurance approval to be moved to the rehabilitation floor. Today she received a letter of denial stating rehab is not medically necessary. I have personally worked with stroke patients for over 15 years. Both in outpatient and inpatient settings. This is the only company I've dealt with in decades that still uses an answering service. I've called several times in the middle of the day and not been able to hold for a representative but instead been connected to someone who will take a message and then have a representative call me back. I've left messages but never received callbacks. It's ridiculous that a serious health insurance company would employ such a system. I wish I could give them a zero! This is the absolute worst Medicare advantage plan I have ever seen! If you think I am the only one with that opinion, just ask any caseworker at the hospital that owns this insurance provider. Moses Cone Hospital. Let me be clear that the hospital is great, their Medicare advantage plan is absolutely ridiculous. I will be overjoyed when we are able to drop this Medicare advantage plan and return to traditional Medicare.
HealthTeam Advantage seems to be a "Great" insurer and their phone representatives are polite and courteous but they really dropped the ball on their choice of OTC card carrier. If you had done the proper research you would have foreseen the issues that your clients are experiencing now. NationsBenefits has a 1.2 ratiing on Trustpilot.
