My employer recently switched to HAP. At first, I thought I would give it a shot thinking "how bad could it be?". I've been on the insurance plan for 2 months now and have endless amounts of problems with these people. I highly advise if you or a loved one is a Type 1 Diabetic to STEER CLEAR of this awful insurance company. If you are thinking about signing up for HAP based on their provider list, know that it is not up-to-date. I've called some providers only to find out they haven't been practicing for 10 years. When addressing this issue with HAP, their response was that they send providers a postcard and depend on providers' response as to whether they are still practicing. You would think after 10 years of no postcard returned HAP would contact the provider by phone, but no, it's to their benefit to make it look like they have so many prov... read more
My husband is employed by Henry Ford Health System, which owns HAP. The system should be ashamed to provide such high cost, low quality medical insurance and employees should strike over this issue. On 1/1/25, the Ascension Genesys medical insurances were stripped away and switched to five insurance options HFHS offers which are all absolutely terrible with costs that will make one's eyes bleed and denial after denial for lifesaving medications and treatments patient was stable on for years. I had HAP and they are horrible please beware!!! I was forced to switch they are the worst out there! Expensive and horrible service.
I'm diabetic and they won't approve my diabetes medication please help or I'm going to die without medication.
