I went to this Hospital in full A-fib... Usually attended Rockledge Regional but it is no longer there due to a disgraceful Orlando Health.... Anyhow... Got to the ER in absolute discomfort... Checked me in right away and vitals after having to get "wanded" by a security guard... really? After vitals I sat there for over 2 HOURS... I watched that department clear twice before I had an EKG by someone being trained... FULL AFIB at 150+ before getting an EKG? Absolutely disgraceful..!!! Went to Viera Hospital ER for what I thought might be a blood clot in my leg—one of those “better safe than sorry” situations. The receptionist at check-in set the tone immediately: cold, robotic, and clearly running on autopilot. On the bright side, the nurse who checked me in was efficient and professional. Let me start that I have a herniated disc and I went to the ER because I could not stand the pain anymore. I have an appointment to see a surgeon on the 6th. The nurses did what they could do which was not much, a shot of Valium and useless meds prescription. There should be someone on staff that can give a cortisone shot in the back. We need doctors in the Er not PA's who can't do anything.
Note: ER was extremely busy during my stay, not fault to their own. Rockledge hospital should have stayed open until Viera could accommodate the pick up. Perspective/assumption observed: -1 Not the biggest fan of over hearing a specific nurse constantly asking, in an irritated tone, when I will be discharged not long after being admitted. Having the assumption that she was wanting the bed I was using for someone else. This hospital is terrible. They must hire the people who almost flunked out of med school. I have been twice now unfortunately. Both times I had nurses that were terrible with nasty attitudes. I literally cried to one because I’m so miserable and they looked at me like I'm stupid and get snappy.. definitely download MyChart because you will rarely see or here anything about your labs and they won’t even explain them.
