Health alliance plan. Yuck just yuck.
HAP use to give healthy living rewards for completing your wellness visits, physicals, colonoscopies and others such preventive care. Starting this year they have tried to keep anyone from actually receiving these rewards and they try and wear you down with many phone calls that go unanswered. If you were having this issue, I suggest you contact the Michigan State attorney general's office which my wife and I are in process of doing. I switched to a Medicare Advantage plan with HAP this year after having WellCare last year, and I regret it. My out-of-pocket costs are much higher than I expected, to the point where it makes it difficult to even use the coverage. With my previous plan, my costs were much more manageable. For seniors on a fixed income, affordability really matters, and in my experience HAP falls short compared to other options. I would strongly recommend people carefully compare plans before choosing.
