I have been seeing Dr. Spelman for a while now. I had my ups and downs and I am beyond fortunate to have her as my doctor. In my experience with Dr. Spelman she has gone above and beyond her "role" as a psychiatrist. I have been on many rocky roads, and she never "left me out in the cold", she stuck by me through thick and thin, and has always been supportive. Dr. Spelman tried to kill my mother. She told her that she does need a therapist or counselor. She comes from a long history of abuse and suffers from bipolar disorder and Dr. Spelman told her that she does NOT need a therapist. Dr. Spelman told her that she doesn't even know of any therapist to refer her to. A psychiatrist that does not have a network of therapist should not have a license to practice.
