Dr. Shufflebarger saw my son because of a leg length discrepancy around 36 years ago. My son is now 50 years old. I will never forget his kindness and advise as to the best treatment method. He wasn’t out to make money and advised for just an overall lift for the tennis show on the shorter leg. My son was a tennis player. I had surgery for scoliosis by this qualifed and amazing doctor at the Miami children hospital so many years ago. A Herrington rod. I am sure technology and advancement has changed as I am 65 years young and had the surgery when I was much younger. Still going strong. This doctor showed compassion and I can not say enough to praise him. I came to Dr. Harry Shufflebarger in 1986 when I was 13 years old. His staff was also very awesome, so supportive and helpful. It was such a supportive environment for my family when we were deciding whether or not I would have the surgery or back brace. They connected us with other families that had gone through the surgery. We had just moved to Miami coincidentally so we didn’t even know a lot of people. I was a scoliosis patient of Dr Shufflebarger at the Miami Children’s Hospital from age 6 until I got too old and they had to kick me out when I was 20! It’s not easy to gain trust from a child, especially with such a scary problem, but I always felt safe and we trusted his advice.
