I came to Dr. Harry Shufflebarger in 1986 when I was 13 years old. His staff was also very awesome, so supportive and helpful. It was such a supportive environment for my family when we were deciding whether or not I would have the surgery or back brace. I was a scoliosis patient of Dr Shufflebarger at the Miami Children’s Hospital from age 6 until I got too old and they had to kick me out when I was 20! It’s not easy to gain trust from a child, especially with such a scary problem, but I always felt safe and we trusted his advice. When she was 14 years old, my daughter underwent spinal fusion surgery at Nicklaus Children's Hospital. I was quite frightened, and the only reasons I consented to this sensitive and complicated surgery were the outstanding recommendations I received about Dr. Shufflebarger and the confidence we had built up over all of our consultations before the procedure.
