I have been using the Truman VA hospital for 25 years. My most recent visit was the best yet. I was admitted to the VA hospital from the ER due to running a fever after a procedure. The ER was great in itself. I spent a week in the hospital with some very friendly and professional staff that kept me informed in 3 surgery room B314. Ive had care at multiple VA s in various states. The primary care is awful at this one. The only way to get care/referrals is to file complaints then likely get marked as difficult. They seem to offer the minimum to the most vets. Pain management is non existent. I strongly do not recommend this VA facility. They truly should close it and give the care over the Mizzou and Boone health.
Great staff and fast procedure work. I wish the bathrooms especially in the 2nd floor endoscopy/specialty surgery waiting room were more handicap accessible. We had to help an elderly man with a large wheelchair into the bathroom because there was not enough room for him to turn into the bathroom, one handed, while trying to hold open the self closing door.
