In my experience Harrogate where my wife's grandfather's apartment was purchased. Has not sold for resettlement for over two years. This means that the money that was invested into his apartment has not be returned to the family as the apartment is still empty. In that it has been a long time. Our parents started in their own apartment. My mother moved into the Health Care Center before she passed away. My father remained in the apartment and then had to move to the Health Care Center. They received amazing care on both sides. The nurses, Aides, Dining staff, and all employees are kind and make it a point to greet every resident by name! We couldn't be happier with our decision. Harrogate is a great place to live!
I recommend that you take the least expensive buy-in so when you die your estate can be closed. My mom died almost 3 years ago and they have not sold her apartment yet. It is not like I can change realtors or do anything myself. I am at their mercy.
