About this business

Hardwick's is a family-owned & operated hardware store located in the heart of the University District. Since 1976, Hardwick & Sons, Inc. has been run by two of the Hardwick brothers, the eldest, William Dean and the youngest, Dean James. As the neighborhood has changed, the focus of Hardwick's has shifted from furniture to tools and hardware. Amazing inventory. You want it, they have it. Amazing staff. You can't find it, they can, with a smile. Amazing store.

I worked there for three years. Called it the "House of Three Wonders. You wonder if we got one, I wonder where it is, we all wonder how I found it." The fun part is the "used" drawers. Used this, that, the other, the "We're not sure but it is four ninetyfive." drawer. The price labels on the display items often were Dean's (as were the Gift Certificates around Christmas) and works of art in their own right.

Hardwick's is amazing... absolutely magical. I am so glad that friends took me there for my first visit this past weekend. I found something I needed and another thing I've wanted for years... and both things were priced about 20% less than I had been prepared to pay. It's a bit of a drive to get to from Olympia, but I'll be heading up there again just as soon as I can.

You must see it. Experience it before it's gone. There will never be another one like it. Everything in one place, things you won't find anywhere else. Go there today. Seriously.

This the hardware store that Harry Potter would shop at. Do you need a quality or cheap, esoteric or mundane, tool or what-not? Look carefully, because they probably have one in a crowded corner. Despite the rumors of their immediate demise because of skyrocketing taxes - they are still going. I hope people will help out by shopping there and visiting this cool landmark.
